Kappa Cutie

For day three of 365-DaysOfDoodles  drawing challenge, to draw a favorite mythological creature. Despite the Siren I drew yesterday and the partial-demon dude I drew a few days back, the Kappa is usually what comes to mind when I try to pick a favorite mythological creature. Not even sure why I find them intriguing, their lore is creepy more than anything else. I guess the fact that they have healing knowledge is cool (they supposedly taught humans the art of bone-setting), and their design is pretty unique. Plus, I have seen them portrayed as cute like here, or completely creepy and badass. 

Speaking of badass, I was originally going to do this super intense, cool, drawing in dark blues and greens, and the kappa would be all badass looking. I was having some troubles getting the design right though, so I started doing some sketches.

...And then I doodled this and COULD NOT RESIST THE CUTENESS, LOOK AT THE PRECIOUS. Maybe someday. Someday I'll draw something actually cool.

Oh yeah, so normally a kappa being off-balance is kind of a bad idea, since their helpless if they drain the water from the bowl on their head. However, she's above her pond, so if she falls in she'd be instantly restored.
